Well Seoul, does have a Salvation Army store. It is a Christain bookstore.
In Seoul(Itaewon in paticuluar) They do have used appliance stores. I can think of one that is right across the street from the 8th Army base. They will deliver for a fee too.
Near the Elementary School I used to teach at in Mia Samgerori, there was alos a used appliance store. So they are all over. I have neve seen a used clothing store though, so don't ask me about those!

Oh Willie,

that would be a very short book, consisting of trips to the roof, brief conversations about education, and then Mr. Lee sucking in air through his teeth and muttering, "young uh. too difficult."

First of all I love watching movies in empty theatres! You dont have to listen to people shoving nachos or popcorn in their mouths, and you dont get distracted by people texting or checking their messages non-stop.

Second, I think you should write a book about Mr. Lee and your relationship with Mr. Lee. I love your stories about Mr. Lee. Especially since it seems like there is more to Mr. Lee than one would think.

Yes. She bought that one too. I find the more controversial the better, as it really gets them fired up wanting to express their opinions. However, I DO work in a missionary school, so I censor my subject matter a lot out of respect for it being elected as such by the parents.

his newer editions - for high school students and college students - are very good, in my opinion, though too controversial for my conversation class for now. they're at kyobo, on the tables near the english shelves. i believe pusan national university published them.

ha ha!

I can't remember the circumstances around a tangent conversation about the V.P.'s managing style, but the witness said, "that man, he is a professional" meaning that he knew every dirty trick in the book.

Which reminded me of the time I wrote an incident report on the one extreme act of insubordination from one of my male students. It CLEARLY showed that a)my co-teacher was sleeping on the job and b)that disciplinary action was called for. The V.P.'s response was to hand over discipline to the head of some department, who, I believe were told to not do anything because the boy was a friend of the school's Principal, and then later he sent someone to get an electronic copy of my report.

Later, I realized there was no reason to ask for a copy of my report electronically unless he wanted to alter it...

The guy's a diabolical genius! If he weren't running a school, he would make a great mob boss! Truly a "professional."

Maybe if this high school was where I was stuck for the rest of my career, I too would join the vast majority of the other teachers in their hatred for this man. But since I'm just passing through and neither of us understand anything the other is saying, I'm happy to just let him smile and let him control everyone around him... :)

I've known Koreans in the past who say they get ill when they are without it, or traveling. So I advise my Korean friends to bring some with them.

Because it is a pro-biotic, I think there is some credence to this. To be used to that as a digestive aid and then to hit the countries heavy with cheese, bread, meat, potatoes, and milk, is bound to bind and loosen any Korean.

I get kind of anxious myself now on those days when I don't have any!

But I'm really into the aged kimchi. It's really wonderful with noodles...

What the heck are you talking about?

Oh - you mean me taking winding up and attacking that pole??? ha ha ha! I was watching Canada's top model and they all had to practice that, so I had to see if I could get enough air to do better than they did.

Unfortunately, I didn't get ANY air and landed on my butt. Very memorable, I'm sure!
